Joining the National main stream, the 61^st Republic Day was celebrated at Diesel Loco Modernisation Works, Patiala & a Production Unit of Indian Railways, Shri A. K. Malhotra, Chief Administrative Officer hoisted the national flag and took salute from contingent of Railways Protection  Force and Bharat Scouts & Guides. This was followed by folk dances by the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya and DMW Public School, Patiala.

            Paying rich tributes to martyrs, Shri Malhotra reminded the DMW staff that qualities like patriotism , hard work, unit, mutual co-operation and  justice were the need of the hour so that our hard earned “Freedom” could be preserved forever.

         Shri. Malhotra while addressing the gathering lauded the performance of DMW employees for achieving the highest ever production figure Rs.606.50  Crore against the target of Rs. 466.60 Crore like re-manufacture of maximum Engine Blocks, Power packs, Traction Motor assemblies etc. during current financial year 2009-10,

            He also mentioned that a unique initiative has been taken by DMW Women Welfare Organization of DMW to set up a recreation room for Railway Senior Citizens  viz “Apna Ghar” .

            While concluding, he appealed to all DMW employees to maintain National Integration and harmony and continuously strive to improve the quality and production from DMW including environment friendly standards. After function the sweets were distributed among the children and fruits were distributed among the patients by Mrs Binoo Malhotra President of DMW Women’s Welfare Organization along with other members of the organization  in DMW Hospital.
